Today was weird.
I basically slept in shifts today. I woke up fairly early so I could ready myself for an early lunch with my mom, and as a result, I basically just slept for another four hours after that lunch. As a result, I wasn't ready to go to sleep until, well, now. So around midnight, I'm on Facebook, and I notice that an old friend from middle school is back in town for winter break (he goes to college in Austin, TX.) He and I were just bitching about insomnia a few weeks ago, so I made a joke post to his wall that was something like "Hey, you want to come over and not sleep with me? It'll be just like middle school all over again!" (We talk to each other that way.) He actually took me up on the offer! XD So we got to catch up, play a 2 AM game of Catan with Tony, and go to Denny's. Pretty random - and we're probably doing it again at least once before he goes back to Texas (around New Years.) More later. Right now, I'm tired. <3 |

The 12 Books of Christmas
Every time I get on a plane, I re-discover my passion for reading. Reading was one of the very first things I took to in school - in first grade, I read EVERY book in the classroom, and in second the teacher had to meet with my mom and tell her that I needed to start reading classics and whatnot. My third grade teacher was fucking confused when I started reading Wuthering Heights at age 8. Due mostly to the fact that I read all the time and had one friend as a kid, I sort of accidentally developed a freaky ability to speed read. My normal, casual reading speed is about 2 pages a minute, but if I'm trying to read quickly, I can actually read about 4-5 pages a minute: not the stuff of champions or anything, but it makes getting through an interesting book pretty quick and painless. That said, I've been kind of bored and depressed lately, and so I came up with a kind of ambitious way to kick my ass into gear: I want to try reading a book every day for 12 days around Christmas - Dec. 20 - Dec. 31. I need suggestions and/or people to loan me books they like. I'd be happy to loan you some of mine in exchange! What do you guys like to read? |
